Aneris with Michael Moore in Bimhuis.
Harmen Fraanje presented his new quartet Aneris, shining in a tightly joined improvisation which at no time recalled illustrious predecessors.
Spontaneously rising melody and rhythm, all the time twisted around one another in a new way with a natural swelling and fading intensity. The particular consonance color was especially due to the characteristic percussions of French Toma Gouband who, with creativity and precision started the stream, sometimes with a stroke along a cymbal or one single maraca, everything subtle and perfectly interwoven with the continuously variating bass lines from his countryman Brice Soniano. No one dominated and collectively an ambiant landscape of sound was created. Shifting rhythmical patrons as the one of the gamelan, swing and abstraction. Music without fore- or background, one group as an organism. Which naturally can count itself lucky with the participation of Michael Moore, already many years one of the most inventive and lyrical reed players in jazz, with a broad palette. His clarinet is equally sonorous and  maneuverable and on the alto saxophone he can play as sweetly as a flute but also quack like an angry Donald Duck..

About 1RDR with Magic Malik (2007) :

"During two timeless sets, this craftsmen's incredible square of the sound gave to us to share a universe governed by the laws of the sound poetry. Everything in precision, in silent listening, tablecloths stretch, the bow rubs the cymbal, the double bass skips, the piano resounds with laughter of its struck ropes and the song of the flute stops leading us towards a state of awakening such as the listener seems to make body with the breath of the music. Between meditation and vibration, this journey in two parts literally transported us in an imagination of brilliant one beauty. "
Igor Juget - Sextant - January 2008

"Sounds sent back until the infinity in sound colors, from brightness to vibrations, melodies in time drops, these four accomplices produce a jazz outside any formalism, radically innovative. Profoundly black and brilliant, the strange listens to and inspires in the poetry, in the thought. "
La Tribune - January, the 17th 2008

"A stretching music, in drizzle, in drops of sounds, where the bow on the cymbal can prevail. Radical improvisation and without cheating."

Franck Bergerot - Jazz Magazine - December 2007

"This album alternates the ultraviolent, opaque, dark and poetry, light. All the question of aestheticism or narcissism is abandoned for the benefit of a music which is similar to nothing, but which claims of a jazz without subject and without solo, perhaps even of the reflection of the society with all its horror and these some spaces of profound poetry. For insatiable curious."
Jean-Baptiste Méchernane - Pianiste - December 2007
